RTA is the initiator and main sponsor of UMii.

With a vision of safe and smooth transport for all, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is responsible for planning and executing transport and traffic projects in Dubai.

The Authority prepares legislation and strategic plans. It develops integrated solutions of road system and marine network that are safe and in line with the city’s economic development plans.

With its six agencies (Marine, Public Transport, Traffic & Roads, Rail, Dubai Taxi & Licensing), RTA supports the Dubai Government in its mission to make Dubai one of the most innovative cities in the world within 3 years.

RTA does not interfere with UMii scientific work undertaken by UITP and FCC, but it has great ambition for its outcome.

UMii should become a unique Forum for cities to exchange knowledge and experiences on Urban Mobility innovation and provide the tool to support the entire public transport industry in its constant quest for innovation and excellence.

UITP

UITP has been assigned by RTA to coordinate the development of UMii.

As a passionate champion of sustainable urban mobility, UITP is internationally recognised for its work in advancing the development of this critical policy agenda.

UITP is the only worldwide network to bring together all public transport stakeholders and all sustainable transport modes.

The President of UITP identified innovation in urban transport as a priority for his term in office.

UITP’s Mobility in Cities Database constitutes a key reference for UMii, both in terms of selected indicators and adjustment methods.

With its 1400 strong membership, global reach, leading role in transportation innovation and recognized expertise in urban mobility data collection and analysis, UITP is an obvious leader for the first Urban Mobility innovation index.

Future Cities Catapult

Future Cities Catapult is a global centre of excellence on urban innovation.
FCC brings cities, businesses and universities together to accelerate urban ideas to market, grow the economy and make cities better.

Hence, FCC works with cities around the world to help deliver innovation at city scale. FCC knows that to achieve such results cities must share knowledge, build synergistic partnerships and ultimately create an ecosystem where businesses and people thrive.

FCC has had a leading role in the creation of UMii during phase 1 of the project and is delighted to cooperate with the UITP in developing UMii further as a scientific tool with worldwide reach and exposure.
